Worker cleaning windows stuck on high rise cradle

Road shut near NMC hospital

Last Updated: Mar 2, 2011

Electra Street, between Airport and Muroor Roads, has been closed for several hours today as emergency crews rescued workers trapped by high winds.

Two men were working on high rise cradle, cleaning windows at the Sama Tower, close to the NMC hospital when the winds picked up.

They could not lower the cradle safely and police and emergency crews were called to the scene near the New York University faculty and students.

Traffic was diverted from the area while police rescue efforts helped two men off the window cleaning cranes, which had flipped due to strong winds.

The men were helped back into the building through a window on the 36th floor. No-one was injured.
